Y esterday evening, I met up with Ashley, her mom and her sister at Paul Smith's VIC for her senior portrait session. It was a perfect August day, albeit a little bit chilly, and we were all very excited to do her shoot (especially since we got rained out last week)! So, off we went... and 2.5 hours later, we were spent and cold. (Some of us more than others, as you will soon see). Happy viewing, friends!
The first time I spoke with Ashley, she commented on some of my images that have flare in them. She didn't just want a non-rainy day, she wanted a sunny day... just so that we got get some flare. Mission accomplished. :-) |

i sure do love Queen Anne's Lace. (side note: by this point in the shoot, I was realizing that it was going to be difficult to get anything other than a smiling or laughing shot). haha! Nice problem to have, if I must say so.

i love this one. it looks like she is advertising how great this little tree is and that your life will be complete with it. :-)

something about the next two... i LOVE!!!!

but, this next one could be my favorite. i know it may not be "so Ashley" since she isn't smiling or laughing. but, i love it anyhow. check out the tree growing on a rock!

i couldn't decide between these next two. she just looks so elegant.

there is something so simply pretty about this next one on the beach.

and, of course, we had to get a few of her sister and her. this is my fave of the two of them!

... and then... they jumped off the dock into the water. the air was chilly, but the water was warm. too bad you have to get out and get cold!

thanks so much! i had so much fun with all of you! can't wait to share the rest!

S orry, friends. I have about zero time to really make this a wordy blog post with explanations due to a solid week and a half gap between childcare providers. So, this will be short and sweet. Kara contacted me about doing her family portrait... she was 4 the last time her family got together for one, so... it HAD to be done! Better late than never, right?! So, we met up at John Brown Farm and made it happen. Thanks so much! You guys were awesome to work with! |

T he class of 2010 is just blowing me away. All of these gals are so pretty and so sweet... and Jess was no exception. I was just thrilled when she first emailed me to get info... she not only LOVES having her picture taken, but she is the editor-in-chief of her yearbook (I was also!). Those things along with many other little details I learned about her, I knew we were going to have a great shoot! She was so easy to photograph and work with, and I am just tickled to share the preview with all of you! Happy viewing, friends!!
everything about this picture makes me warm and fuzzy inside. |

how perfect is this flare? :-)

i love this little spot. the colors were perfect for Jess! if you look really closely in the window, you can see her mom's reflection. her hands are clasped in joy!

Jess had told me before the shoot that her favorite color was red, so... I found a red wall in Lake Placid near where we were going to meet. love it.

just a normal hang out sesh at the post office. ha!

how beautiful are her eyes, seriously?!

man, i love this one! a lot. so pretty!

jess looks just plain pretty here. :-)

so, Jess is kind of a big fan. she's followed my blog a bit. and well, she really loves the trash-the-dress shoots... and while she didn't have a dress to trash, she was super eager to get into the lake. i love it! (I told her to come back with her prom dress to do the trash-the-dress style session with it- maybe we can get a group of girlfriends together to do this?).

i know we closed out our last senior session preview with a splashing shot in the water, and i don't love showing things that are intentionally the same... but, i couldn't resist posting this next one. it is just too cute of Jess!

thanks so much, Jess! I had so much fun with you!

K TK is ENGAGED!!!!!!!!! Sorry... I had to start that way. Katie is my dear dear friend from college, and she got engaged about a month and a half ago... and I was just DYING to see her ASAP. But, traveling to Texas was not in the cards for a new mommy, so instead, I bribed Katie with an engagement session if she and her fiance would come up this way. Well, fortunately, she likes my work (and me), so they found a flight and made it happen. And, I had the shear joy and honor of photographing them. Of course, the trip came and went way too quickly, but it got us all so excited for the big day this coming spring! And, no, i am not photographing her wedding- i want to enjoy the wine and the company... and wear a pretty dress. And, she wants the same for me! So, yippee!! Anyhow, I could go on and on about my amazing friend and how lucky Ryan is and how blessed I am to have such a friend in my life, but the long weekend has left me with a bit of work to catch up on... so... I will just send you off with a... happy viewing, friends!
you know it is going to be good when this is the first shot out of the camera! |

I can just hear Katie laughing in this one... I love that sound! And, I love that this Ryan guy keeps her happy and laughing. :-)

these next two are my faves! LOVE THEM!!!!

okay, so there are a lot of pics of Ryan kissing Katie's check. The guy couldn't help himself, and can you blame him?!

Katie has beautiful eyes. :-)

look how still the lake was! i love these colors!

if i didn't think it was unfair to share 20-30 images of this session, i would've put up a long sequence from this next spot. they are pretty fun and funny.

on our way to dinner that night, i thought we should grab a few more since the light was so yummy on the Ausable river. love this cuteness!

Katie & Ryan had one request... a nice formally posed shot for grandparents and parents... i took a few just to make sure they got one they love. but, this is my favorite. Congrats to you guys!!!

Claire Anna at Seven Months |

I feel like I warned all of you when Claire was born... that there would be monthly portraits. I mean, if for some reason you don't like cute babies, then don't worry... it will end... in five very short months when she has her first birthday. After that, they will only be bi-annually... until THAT feels excessive or we have too many kids to do individual portraits. :-) Right. Anyhow... so, Claire turned 7 months this past Monday. She is changing so fast! From one month to another, it doesn't seem like she LOOKS that different, but what she is accomplishing and doing is SOOO different and new... and I just can't believe how quickly she is growing. So, without too much babbling... I will just quickly say that I had big plans for some outdoor photos this past week, but one of two things got in the way... "extreme" heat that made a very unhappy baby ORR rain. So, after a little brainstorming, I decided we should do her portraits in our home... more specifically on our bed. She absolutely LOVES playing on our bed. This is where she first learned to roll over and sit up and push herself up... mostly because it is soft, but we've spent countless hours on this bed in the past 7 months (mostly in the morning- PJ play time, it was too hot to put her in PJs in our room today, though). Anyway... she was kinda cranky when we started, and it made us kinda nervous, but... she warmed up to it. She was in her happy place, afterall. :-) Happy viewing, friends.
the "warm up" shot. "what are you doing mommy?" |

taking a little break from tummy time. she doesn't really suck her thumb, but every once in a while, she feels the need for the tip of it in her mouth. :-)

rolling over with a toy. fun times.

okay, we ditched the dress... and then Claire found the strap to my camera. yummy!

our dog baxter wanted to play along... at a safe distance from the baby, of course. :-) I absolutely LOVE this picture!

claire is rediscovering her hands. we are trying to teach her to wave (she's close!) and blow kisses... and clap... she is fascinated by all of it!

she often sucks her lips in... when she wants to try to talk... or just is happy.

the bottom lip is her favorite, though. haha!

LOOK HOW STRONG!!! sorry, bragging mom, but she is so close to crawling!

there are, of course, tons more on Facebook... :-)
