CLaire Anna at Ten Months |

H ow in the world did my baby get to be in the double digits? If I were to count her age in months, she wouldn't be out of the double digits until she is over 8 years old (was that a geeky fact? sorry!). She is officially ten months, and I can't believe how fast these months have passed by. Claire is becoming my new favorite person (well, a close second to my husband, of course). Her personality is really emerging, and the days I get to spend home with her are a true treasure! Of course, I love my job, but I don't love it more than my family. Claire has a very sweet, curious yet VERY cautious and very social demeanor about her. She is showing me to find joy in the little things... like pulling on ceiling fan cords and feeling the wind on my face. She talks all day long... real words? sure! I mean, not really... she's been saying "mom" and "dada" for months, but she's just dying to say more words with meaning. This morning, I SWEAR she said "dog" when she pointed at our dog. (Baxter, his name, was too hard to spit out). Anyhow, I could go on and on about how in love I am and I how I love that my job allows me to be home with her most days of the week... though not this week (crunch time!). I will spare all of you non-grandparents all the million details... and instead, I will just share her 10-Month Portraits! Happy viewing, friends!
one of my favorite things is getting her when she wakes up from her naps... she is usually in the best mode, and we often play in her crib and in her room when I go to get her... so, I took a few of her right after her afternoon nap. |

no, i didn't even brush her hair to take her picture. love it!

she loves standing in her crib (the front side is dropped down, for all you concerned parents).

look who found out what this switch does!

then, we headed outside to get a few at John Brown Farm. I mean, I take everyone else's pics there; I need my own there, right? What I forgot is that the sun sets around 4:30 now... we got there are 3:50. still light, but it was getting darker and chilly.

Claire is one lucky girl. her eyelashes are lush and long like her dad's... not like mine!

she wouldn't really smile for me since she was too amused by everything she could explore, but I love her dark glass-like eyes here!

I had to put on her hat since she was getting chilly... love her scrumptious cheeks!

Claire likes to find teeny tiny things, hold them in her hand, then give them to me... if I don't get to it fast enough, it goes in her mouth, but she really tries to give it to me first. haha!

she's so strong! I put shoes on her, but she kicked them off... while standing... :-)

i think she would like to say... "get these shoes as far away from me as possible!" (seriously, she did try to gently push them off the bench)

we're getting so close to her first birthday! two more monthly photo shoots and then you only have to see her for random personally pics and her bi-annual portraits. :-)

Sophie Rae - Newborn Portraits |

I love babies. If I didn't have the job I have, I would have to be a nurse in the maternity ward (which I am not sure I could handle the bad days there) or have 18 kids and counting. No lie. I just love them to pieces. And, I love that my job keeps me from having 18+ kids, too. ;-) I also love that I have clients that keep hiring me for all the new stages in their lives. Amy & Kevin were married about three weeks after I found out I was pregnant, and now, I have a 10-month-old and they have a newborn! Funny how quickly life changes. But, it is such a precious thing to have witnessed the joining of two becoming one and now to see the One creating a new life, Sophie Rae! I do love that name, and for the record, Amy's middle name is Rae. Although I would've been deeply honored to have a client name their baby after me, this is not the case. ha! Anyway, I am sure they are busting at the seams to see these pics, so I won't be too wordy. Congratulations again, Amy & Kevin! She is precious! Happy viewing, friends!
i just love baby's expressions... Sophie discovered the overhead light. oooooo! |

she didn't really like this spot, and she was hungry again... but... i do miss those little cries from Claire, so I thought I needed to capture it.

ahh, much better! love that both mom and dad are in this one!

this one makes me a little teary...

"hey! what's that pink thing?!" haha! love it! get used to the pink, girlie.

a little sneeze on her mom's baby blanket.

and another one that makes me a little teary... Amy is GLOWING with love for her little one!

sweet little toes in daddy's hands.

Congrats again! I can't wait to watch her grow!

Carla & Darik - Christmas Card Shoot! |

H ave I ever mentioned how much I love my clients? I know a lot of photographers say that, and maybe some of them really mean it (jussss kidding! i am sure all of them mean it!)... but, I really do work for some of the best couples and families out there! Take, for instance, Carla & Darik. They booked me for their July 31, 2010 wedding more than a year in advance immediately following their engagement shoot. Yes, I shot their e-pics before they were official wedding clients, which (for the record) I LOVED doing! It was a great opportunity for us all to feel out how we would work together, and of course, I was smitten as soon as I started shooting. They are such a fun and great couple!! So... you may be asking why am I doing a post when I already did their engagement portraits and their wedding isn't for another 8 months or so... well, I sent out an email blast to all of my clients with this year's holiday greeting card designs, and Carla LOVED them! But, they had used their engagement pics for save-the-dates, and well, they were very summery pics... so, naturally, we had to do another session for more wintery portraits! Of course, we didn't need a full session, so I offered a mini-session (which are still available for this month only). And off we went! Perfect timing, it snowed on Friday, and it just happened to stick around for the shoot (I should note it is almost 60 today!). Anyway, happy viewing, friends!!
this is my favorite! |

i asked them to bring some ornaments to decorate with. also love this one!

why yes, we are decorating a random tree!

this one reminds me a lot of one of Carla's fave pics from their engagement shoot...

alright, so time for some card ideas! don't fret, the logo is not usually on the front (typically on the back), but for blog purposes, it is on the design... enjoy!

Carla informed me that this was the first and the last time she will jump on Darik's shoulders. haha! it was a necessary thing for decorating! ;-)

nice little family pose for a Christmas card!

this is my personal fave... mostly because the design mimics my logo. :-)

... but i also really like the 4 squares in the first one and this one...

a little out of the ordinary image to use on a card, but i like. (of course, I can hear Carla laughing at how Darik's face is partially covered. ha!)

and lastly... a little Adirondack flare. :-) Thanks so much, you guys! I can't wait for the big day!!!

I do believe our senior season is now over, and it ended with a bang. Kelsey needed to wait for her braces to be taken off (of course!). So, we had to wait until the leaves had left town, unfortunately, but really, I wasn't worried. You don't need pretty leaves on the tree to get pretty pics of this lady! So, instead of meeting in a brown field or a leafless forrest, we met in downtown Saranac Lake just behind Main Street, and we moved all around town to get the best colors our buildings have to offer. :-) I had a hard time narrowing these down, so I hope you enjoy. Happy viewing, friends!!
i think I am starting with my favorite! This was taken with the river in the background. The light could not have been more perfectly yummy! |

... but I have to show off the 1000 watt smile that her parents paid for!! haha!

this tree was still a little bit golden. love it!

another fave... thank you f/1.4 for focusing on THE front eye. ;-)

i really love the colors in this one. perfect smile, too!

just hanging out on the fire escape. thank you wind for following my cue. ;-)

seriously, how beautiful is she? (this was in the parking lot- the light was hitting the puddle just perfectly!)

a few with Shiloh, her pup, around town... i have a lot of faves, but this one tops it.

and a huge smile for mom!

last one of the day... i think she looks like Heather Graham here. :-)

Thanks so much, Kelsey & mom! It was well worth the wait to have the chance to photograph you!
